Joel Johnstun Returns From Mission
What a wonderful day this was! I normally work at the temple Thursday evenings and nothing short of a sick bed has kept me from that in the past. But this was a super special day because our grandson, Joel Adriance Johnstun returned from his mission today and Dorie and I went to the airport to greet him.
His parents, Jesse and Diana (our daughter) and 3 of his siblings, Katelin, Caleb and Benjamin were also there. Jacob and Clarice were unable to to be there.
It was great to see Joel after two years. I am about the world’s worst correspondent but my thoughts were with him constantly while he was away even though my lack of letters might seem otherwise.
He looked wonderful – fit and healthy – if quite thin. He served the mountainous Basque area of North Eastern Spain and for a good part of hoe mission traveled by foot. No car and no bicycle. I am sure Diana will do her best to fatten him up a bit again before he returns to his studies at BYU -Idaho next month.
He will be speaking in their ward’s sacrament meeting on the 21st. I am anxious to listen to his report and learn more of his experiences.
This blog will be all about my life, my family and life in general.
